Tuesday night was a time for giving recognition to John Wright, a true master musician and supporter of jazz and the Hyde Park Jazz Society. The event took place at the now famous Room 43 in Chicago. John is best known as the artist who helped launch the Prestige record label. If you take a look, you will find a catalog of his songs on ITUNES, a very impressive offering it is. If any club in the city was short of a musician, it was because they were all at room 43 for John. Who? Well I won’t even try to name them all, but here are a few, Dee Alexander, Maggie Brown, Tammy McCann, Spider Saloff, Ernest Dawkins, Ari Brown, Miguel De La Cerna, Joan Colaso, Victor Goines, Chuck Webb, Ernie Adams, Scott Hesse and many more. The music was hot and the crowd was cool, but none cooler than John Wright, especially when he got up with his wife and cut a few steps on the dancefloor. Thank you Nicole for the invite, it was a blast.
