AKA in town this week

Well AKA needs no introduction, and they are hosting their event at the Marriott this week. Just a few photos from the event follow.

Today on the lakefront with singer and author, Moni Rashad

Moni Rashad, better known as “Moni’ is the author of the forthcoming book “HOW TO GROW OUT OF THE WILDERNESS” yeah I shoutin’ it out. She also is a talented singer, and emcee. Moni braved the cold lakefront north winds this afternoon to do a photoshoot with me. Good day for shooting, just don’t go too close to the lake!  A short photo essay follows.

Maggie Brown comes to Sherman Park

Talented songstress Maggie Brown came to Sherman Park for a concert in which she payed tribute to Jazz legend Abbey Lincoln. Maggie is the daughter of music legend Oscar Brown Jr., and in terms of musical talent, this apple did not fall far from the tree! She put on a wonderful show, and this native Chicagoan proved once again that we got talent here.

I shoot the Sinai Urban Health Institute 10th anniversary celebration

I had the pleasure of photographing the SUHI, Sinai Urban Health Institute’s tenth year anniversary celebration . What an interesting and worthy organization. The following is a quote from the Sinai Health System President and CEO, Alan H. Channing, “The Sinai Health System is built on the Old Testament concept of Tikkun Olam — repairing the world.” Furthermore, “the founding leadership of SUHI, Steven Whitman, Ph.d and Jade Dell, MRE, continue to apply rigorous research standards and creative solutions with a talented team of epidemiologists, health educators and community members. Their work continues to drive the Sinai Health System’s clinical programs that range from asthma care to smoking cessation, to woman’s health, to diabetes and obesity management  and prevention.” This organization is doing a lot of good work in our community.
